Sometimes it is beautiful
Living in this dream land
Nothing really matters much
When you know it’s pretend
A child upset by sandcastles
On white sandy beaches
Sand slips through a tightened hand
Soon everyone leaves us
But sometimes when the sun hits right
I’m thankful for all the ways
That I still love you day to day
Not a day since you been gone
Have I believed it
Sometimes I will catch myself
Like while doing dishes
I’ve read all these books
I’ve read East of Eden
But this time round it’s more correct*
Like through different lenses
And I get sad most every day
But I’m thankful it’s another day
Cause now I know they slip away
And I know it’ll be okay
Even when it turns to dust
Two years ago today my dad left his physical body and sailed on. I was in Denver about to play a show when I got the call. I’m lucky that my dad was my hero and champion and that I get to honor him through emulation. #fuckcancer though. This is a song/letter I wrote him today that I guess I’m sharing here?? Whatever. 🍃🍂

Bring your mom if she’s in town. Have a good time. I’ll have a full band opening for my good friend, @musicxsmith, who is releasing his record this week.
