Went to Nashville. Worked on the house. Learned to cut and lay tile. Put a backsplash in the kitchen. Painted some walls. Fixed some other shit. Purged some things. Saw some really great music played by some really good friends. Hung with Billie at the house. Wrote a Marie Kondo inspired song. Wore the silly sunglasses I bought for $5 in Chinatown, Manhattan.
Went to New York. Saw some good friends and great art. Got some silly sunglasses in Chinatown.
I have a show on Thursday in Echo Park. Playing solo opening up for my friend, Susy, who is releasing a new song and vid. Here are some photos of me with some ancient, giant trees yesterday. First photo taken with self-timer. There were no other humans there due to gov shutdown. Reckon I was protesting Trump’s wall.
Happy birthday, Nee Nee 💜. You are the best thing to happen to me (and all of us). I (we) wouldn’t be here without you! Life has sucked balls a bit lately but here are some photos from the trip you took with Andrew and me out here in California this past summer that are pretty great! Some of my favorite memories of my life! Look at you on top of that mountain! Proud of and grateful for you. You are beautiful! Take heart! Love you forever.
🎄🌺 Deck the halls with boughs of 🍒🌴✨Hollywood✨🌴🍒 fa la la la la la la la land 🌺🎄 - the name of my LA Christmas record coming to a Christmas tree near you.
In love again. 😍🎹😍🎹😍
Today Puff Mami, my roomie and bff, moved to New York for a job where she’ll be living with my other bff and ex-roomie, Will Farley. I am home sick for them both. Farley taught me how to make this hash on a snow day when we lived together in my home in Greenbrier (Nashville). Sarah left behind this Nashville mug (and her apartment). I am commemorating both of them. Can’t wait to party in NY. All the love. 🧡

A year ago today I was driving out to Malibu to hike and catch a sunset on my first full day living in LA with my good friend, Ian, visiting from NY, when we got the news that Tom Petty had died. We were very near his home in Encino when we got the news and it hit me really hard. The first thing globally that I was sad about since my father’s death a few months prior. We started at track two (loudly af) and listened silently through the album “Wildlfowers” as we drove up Topanga to the coast. Driving back into town along the 101 cranking the greatest hits with places like “Reseda,” “Ventura Blvd,” “Mulholland,” and seeing that Capitol building off the freeway, which I first became familiar with via Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers doc. that probably screwed all of us up in our late teens when we saw it. It tells of his coming to LA from Dixie, you know, running down a dream. I was very sad, but it also felt very right to be in LA. The city rules ✨. Thanks to new friends who’ve become homies and old buds who helped make it homie. Here’s to a year of living in Los Angeles, Tom Petty, and the west side drive cranking Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers I’ll probably be taking later on to commemorate. (Photos from that day).
